“Each of us carries responsibility for mental health – not only our own, but also that of our peers. Remember, every voice matters, and yours could save someone’s life.”
Hi! My name is Marcelina Maciąg, and I’m the creator of the “Blue Mental Health Box” project. I believe in the power of action and am determined to make a real difference in the mental well-being of children and young people. I design initiatives based on peer support, kindness, and empathy—values that help create friendly and understanding environments both in and outside of schools.
I dream of an empathetic school—a place where everyone feels accepted, heard, and understood.
Together, we can build spaces filled with support, compassion, and hope. Join us—let’s make the world a better place!
Schools in the Mazowieckie region have already received the Blue Mental Health Box
Schools and educational institutions have joined the project
Provinces across Poland are represented among the participating schools
The Blue Mental Health Box is a simple yet highly effective initiative designed to support the mental well-being of children and teenagers in schools. It provides a safe space where students can anonymously share their concerns, emotions, and needs by leaving messages asking for help or reporting difficult situations they or their peers are facing.
The project not only promotes empathy and strengthens relationships among students but, above all, gives them a sense of safety and reassurance that they are not alone in challenging moments.
Every element of the initiative has been created with the goal of supporting students’ growth and fostering empathy within the school community.

The statistics are alarming — the mental health crisis among young people has reached an unprecedented scale and demands immediate action. The Blue Mental Health Box serves as a lifeline where peer support can truly make a difference — offering young people a safe space to speak up and a chance to find hope and help.
This initiative was born out of the need to create an environment where students are not afraid to ask for support and where empathy becomes a natural part of school life.
Discover the story behind the project and meet the people who made it possible — those who helped turn an idea into a nationwide movement that is already improving young lives.
On June 17, 2024, at the Warsaw Chamber Opera, a conference titled “Waves of Support: Bringing Help to Others” marked the official launch of the Blue Mental Health Box project.
Ludwik Rakowski,
Chairman of the Mazowieckie Regional Assembly
“I believe that the Blue Mental Health Box project will provide real, tangible support for children and young people in need. This is especially important, as mental health disorders have become a serious social issue, increasingly affecting the younger generation.”
Paulina Piechna-Więckiewicz,
Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of National Education, responsible for Mental Health
“Supporting individuals facing mental health crises is one of the key challenges we are addressing together with young people. Initiatives like the Blue Boxes, along with investments in child psychiatry and psychological counseling centers, represent a major step forward — toward a safer future for all of us. It is our duty to ensure that every child feels cared for and understood. Let’s not remain indifferent.”
Adam Struzik,
Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship
“The Blue Mental Health Boxes are not only a tool of support but also a reflection of our shared responsibility for the younger generation. We want every resident of Mazovia to know that they are not alone in difficult times. This initiative reminds us that caring for mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical well-being.”
Monika Horna-Cieślak,
Ombudsman for Children
“The Blue Mental Health Box is an immensely important initiative that directly addresses the critical issue of children’s and teenagers’ mental health. It provides a fully safe and anonymous space where young people can share the challenges they face. This is a step toward a healthier and more supportive future for young generations — made even more valuable by the fact that it was initiated by young people themselves, with the support of responsible adults. I wholeheartedly support this initiative and look forward to seeing it grow and flourish.”
Wojciech Bochnak,
Deputy Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship
“The Blue Mental Health Box is a wonderful initiative that has the power to save the lives of many young people. In Lower Silesia, we had no doubt that these boxes must appear in our schools. They will help us care for the health and future of our youth, ensuring they always have access to timely support.”
Wioletta Krzyżanowska,
Mazowieckie School Superintendent
“The Blue Mental Health Box is an excellent tool that helps address difficult emotions at an early stage and opens the door to getting help for children and young people. It also encourages peer support and gentle attentiveness to the needs of classmates. Every act of support matters — let’s not remain indifferent!”
Jan Gawroński,
Deputy Ombudsman for Children (Social Representative)
“I am truly delighted to be one of the Ambassadors of the Blue Mental Health Box project. It is both an honor and a great joy to see young people gaining another vital lifeline in accessing much-needed support. The Blue Box is a simple and accessible tool for every young person — without exception — who may need psychological or emotional help.”
Sara Michalska,
Deputy Director of the Department of Organizational Affairs, Marshal’s Office of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship in Warsaw
“The Blue Mental Health Box creates a space where young people can express their struggles anonymously, without fear of judgment. It’s not only a form of support but also a call to action — to never ignore someone else’s problems. A small note dropped inside may seem insignificant, but I believe it can work wonders and save more than one precious life.”
We invite representatives of the government, ministries, local authorities, artists, journalists, business leaders, influencers, and everyone who wishes to help build kinder and more empathetic schools. Together, we can strengthen the mental health of children and young people and support them in their everyday challenges.

Starter Kit for Every School
Every school that joins the Blue Mental Health Box project receives a Starter Kit, designed to help effectively launch peer-support initiatives within the school community. It’s more than just a set of materials—it’s a foundation for building openness, empathy, and mutual understanding.
The kit includes:
The Blue Box – the project’s symbol, intended for students to anonymously share their needs or problems.
Certificate of Participation – confirming the school’s commitment to promoting mental health and supporting students.
Guidelines for Using the Box – clear and transparent rules for students and teachers that ensure anonymity and safety.
Student Leaflets – accessible informational materials that explain the project’s purpose and encourage students to use the box.
This kit represents more than just tools—it’s a meaningful step toward creating a school community based on empathy and care. It helps schools begin initiatives that show students every voice matters and that no one is alone.
“When I created the Blue Mental Health Box project, I wanted it to feel approachable and to have a symbol children and teenagers could connect with. I chose the dolphin because its social nature, empathy, and communication skills perfectly reflect the values we aim to promote.
Dolphins never leave anyone behind—they always care for their group members, even the sick or injured ones. That spirit of solidarity and compassion inspired Delfi, who became the symbol of our initiative. Delfi reminds us all how important it is to care for one another and to create emotionally healthy, supportive communities.
I believe Delfi will inspire school communities to collaborate, support each other, and nurture kindness.”
— Marcelina Maciąg, creator of the Blue Mental Health Box project
Many incredible people and organizations are joining this effort, working to create empathetic environments for children and young people and supporting them through difficult times. Every contribution—no matter how small—helps make the world a more caring place.
The Blue Mental Health Box project is proudly supported by remarkable foundations that share the same mission and values:
Girls Future Ready Foundation, GrowSpace Foundation, OFF School Foundation, and Empowering Children Foundation (Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę).
Their involvement allows us to extend our reach and make youth mental health a shared priority across Poland.

After a successful launch in the Mazowieckie region and the distribution of starter kits to 100 institutions, the Blue Mental Health Box is now expanding nationwide. The goal is clear — to bring peer support to students all across Poland. Every school and every region is an opportunity to protect and save young lives. We’re not stopping — we’re moving forward!
Together with Monika Wielichowska, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm and Honorary Ambassador of the project, the team visited several counties in the Lower Silesia region to discuss local implementation of the initiative. These meetings provided valuable insights into regional needs and helped shape future plans for the project’s development.
The success of the Blue Mental Health Box project is driven by a group of remarkable people — our Regional Coordinators. They are the heart of the initiative, building local partnerships, supporting schools across their regions, and ensuring that every effort reaches the places where it’s needed most.
Meet the individuals whose energy, commitment, and passion make a daily difference in promoting the mental well-being of children and young people across Poland. Together, we’re creating a supportive and empathetic community!

“Every child and young person needs two things most within their peer environment: a sense of acceptance and belonging. How our friends feel often depends on us. That’s why peer support is so important. Creating a community built on kindness, care, and empathy is one of the key goals — and one of the best answers to today’s mental health challenges.”
~ Marcelina Maciąg on Peer Support
Peer support is much more than offering help during tough times. It’s about creating an atmosphere where everyone feels seen, understood, and valued. It’s the little things — inviting someone to talk, showing genuine interest, or simply smiling — that can brighten someone’s day or even change their life.
Each of us shapes the kind of community we live in. By building groups rooted in empathy and mutual care, we create a world where kindness becomes part of everyday life, not an exception. These supportive environments help young people regain a sense of safety, grow, and build emotional resilience.
We’re determined to be the change we all need. That’s why we’ve launched two initiatives:
The Blue Mental Health Box – to address concerns quickly and effectively.
Youth Kindness Revolution – a movement of empathy and connection that everyone can be part of.
We believe that, together, we can make the world a better place — step by step, with kindness and compassion at heart.
Are you ready for the Kindness Revolution?
